Neighborhood profiles: schools, walkability, safety and prices
We do not publish invented safety or school scores. Each profile below describes the area honestly and links to the authoritative public source — the school district, Walk Score, and the police agency or state bureau that reports crime for that jurisdiction — so you can verify current data yourself.

Walkability
Walkable by Charlotte standards — sidewalks throughout, with cafes and shops reachable on foot along Providence Road and Selwyn Avenue; most errands still involve a car. See Walk Score
Crime & safety data

How to choose a Charlotte neighborhood
Fix the commute first. Drive your actual route at your actual departure time. I-77 north and Independence Boulevard east behave very differently at 7:45 a.m. than on a Saturday tour.
Verify school assignment by address, not by town. Assignment can change between neighboring streets and between school years.
Check the tax jurisdiction. Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Iredell and York County SC all tax differently, and a city rate may stack on top of the county rate.
Read the HOA documents. Dues, capital contributions, rental restrictions and architectural rules vary widely across Charlotte subdivisions.
Compare sold prices, not list prices. Our past sales records show what homes actually closed for in these communities.
Pressure-test resale. Days on market and year-over-year change in the table above tell you how liquid a submarket is if your plans change.
